<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-joCXgTPwu6g/TcLOUffBdfI/AAAAAAAAAnc/_0It6yXiReA/s1600/Valentine%2527s+Flowers+002.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" j8="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-joCXgTPwu6g/TcLOUffBdfI/AAAAAAAAAnc/_0It6yXiReA/s640/Valentine%2527s+Flowers+002.jpg" width="512" /></a></div><br />
This morning my doorbell rang and I received this from my boys:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ywU3xuy165c/TcLO0FVxX3I/AAAAAAAAAng/51wz-i2xRek/s1600/May+2011+013.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="593" j8="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ywU3xuy165c/TcLO0FVxX3I/AAAAAAAAAng/51wz-i2xRek/s640/May+2011+013.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
Since I don't eat any sugar or flour, this is a real treat for me!<br />
<br />
These gifts were thought up by my youngest boy, Andy:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Wtb3OABjb3s/TcLZlrEchGI/AAAAAAAAAoE/7PhsopdDEyo/s1600/Ring+Weekend+2010+113.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="368" j8="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Wtb3OABjb3s/TcLZlrEchGI/AAAAAAAAAoE/7PhsopdDEyo/s400/Ring+Weekend+2010+113.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
I also received this yesterday:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-v2OukQp4__g/TcLPRB0ZrPI/AAAAAAAAAns/ZTtSgsjM4o0/s1600/May+2011+037.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" j8="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-v2OukQp4__g/TcLPRB0ZrPI/AAAAAAAAAns/ZTtSgsjM4o0/s640/May+2011+037.jpg" width="428" /></a></div><br />
From my boys again. It's for my birthday a week and a half ago and just arrived! It was my middle boy, Jim's, idea.<br />
<br />

I really like those checks and ginghams on upholstered furniture. My family room sofa is slipcovered in red gingham:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wMUdN-qz8gw/TcGweigNDoI/AAAAAAAAAnY/TGu2MbmtN9M/s1600/New+House+2010-11+015.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" j8="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wMUdN-qz8gw/TcGweigNDoI/AAAAAAAAAnY/TGu2MbmtN9M/s400/New+House+2010-11+015.jpg" width="305" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This is the same sofa in my last house:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

I love tote bags; I think it's because I like things to be organized. I have lots of tote bags but not too many that are cute so I decided that I need another one that's fashionable. <br />
<br />
I took a piece of drop cloth fabric that I had left over that had been washed and bleached a few times and I made it into a tote bag using another one as an example.<br />
<br />
Now comes the fun part. I wanted blue stripes on the bag so I pulled out a new bottle of acrylic paint and my painter's tape. I taped off stripes and began my work.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dKFrU8dtTZA/TcBHkHcCCJI/AAAAAAAAAmM/Mfqja7arfZI/s1600/Striped+Bag+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="534" j8="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dKFrU8dtTZA/TcBHkHcCCJI/AAAAAAAAAmM/Mfqja7arfZI/s640/Striped+Bag+5.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
Then I followed these tutorials <a href="http://jonesdesigncompany.com/tutorial/flower-pin-tutorial">here</a>, <a href="http://cherrystreetcottage.blogspot.com/2011/03/fabric-flower-tutorial-at-last.html">here</a> and <a href="http://somereallyneatstuff.blogspot.com/2010/12/fabric-flowers.html">here</a> and made three flowers to embellish my bag and this is what I have!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pmUUzFlNo1c/TcBIeR-bG_I/AAAAAAAAAmQ/NouOmbtBgZQ/s1600/April+project+004.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" j8="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pmUUzFlNo1c/TcBIeR-bG_I/AAAAAAAAAmQ/NouOmbtBgZQ/s640/April+project+004.jpg" width="562" /></a></div><br />
You can buy premade bags at most craft stores and do the same if you don't want to make your own. I just didn't want to spend any money and wanted to use up some of my crafting stuff.<br />
<br />
I suggest if you make one of these that you don't reuse the tape for the second side. I did and since it didn't stick real well, I had some blotches to repair. I just used some acrylic paint that matched the drop cloth to fix the mistakes and put the flowers on the good side.<br />
<br />
If you make one of these, please let me know and link to your blog with pictures.<br />
<br />
Happy crafting!<br />

</div>Hi all! Glad to be back. I've been under the weather in the sense of not feeling like doing anything creative since Spring Break and then I got a shot of creativity and have been working on some really neat stuff.<br />
<br />
Today I'm going to feature my embellished denim jacket. I've owned the plain denim jacket for a few years but didn't wear it often because it was so plain. I really wanted to add some bright, saturated colors by adding flowers using calico and felt.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zs9p9sgSj1k/Tbhtbkyd31I/AAAAAAAAAko/Y2cVAZP8RF0/s1600/April+Blog+pix+032.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="494" i8="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zs9p9sgSj1k/Tbhtbkyd31I/AAAAAAAAAko/Y2cVAZP8RF0/s640/April+Blog+pix+032.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DE-prucSNoA/TbhtkFrLCGI/AAAAAAAAAks/xo6kXpaiYmg/s1600/April+Blog+pix+037.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="506" i8="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DE-prucSNoA/TbhtkFrLCGI/AAAAAAAAAks/xo6kXpaiYmg/s640/April+Blog+pix+037.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>I believe there are 16 pieces that I made and then hand-sewed to the jacket.<br />
<br />
All pieces are made using calico and felt stacked up with iron-on interfacing and then machine or hand sewn. Each piece is mounted on a piece of felt and some include hand embroidery.<br />
<br />

I blogged about my back porch <a href="http://somereallyneatstuff.blogspot.com/2011/02/back-porch.html">here</a> back in February.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DXbJZWc_uQs/TaoVoG1SEJI/AAAAAAAAAj0/e_fAtOqXnLU/s1600/Porch+035.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="157" r6="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DXbJZWc_uQs/TaoVoG1SEJI/AAAAAAAAAj0/e_fAtOqXnLU/s400/Porch+035.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The wicker chairs are 10 year old Martha Stewart chairs from K-Mart. I love my wicker chairs but didn't like them white so I decided to paint them. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_JWHvEEKSTM/TaoVvcB5ePI/AAAAAAAAAj4/_cCFdSMlfZA/s1600/Porch+043.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="328" r6="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_JWHvEEKSTM/TaoVvcB5ePI/AAAAAAAAAj4/_cCFdSMlfZA/s400/Porch+043.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I chose Rustoleum's Leafy Green spray paint because I love the color and because I already had the paint.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Here is a chair after spraying it with Leafy Green:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fFQmdqODGa8/TaoXRmwz6QI/AAAAAAAAAkA/Xoyg5v5fEH8/s1600/Before+%25284-16-11%2529+002.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" r6="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fFQmdqODGa8/TaoXRmwz6QI/AAAAAAAAAkA/Xoyg5v5fEH8/s400/Before+%25284-16-11%2529+002.jpg" width="308" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I love the color but it was Too. Much. Green!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">So I used some Minwax English Chestnut stain. I brushed it on, left it for a very short time and wiped it off. That way the stain stays in the crevices and gives the chair some interest and depth and tones the green down some.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This is the chair with the stain:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bNb4fnrdD-s/TaoXMSLXqLI/AAAAAAAAAj8/TI5sDgT__1s/s1600/After+%25284-16-11%2529+003.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" r6="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bNb4fnrdD-s/TaoXMSLXqLI/AAAAAAAAAj8/TI5sDgT__1s/s400/After+%25284-16-11%2529+003.jpg" width="323" /></a></div><br />
And here they are together:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nMTXDSSRFIY/TaoXVv4ePdI/AAAAAAAAAkE/Ahq3B13I9XQ/s1600/Before+and+After.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="245" r6="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nMTXDSSRFIY/TaoXVv4ePdI/AAAAAAAAAkE/Ahq3B13I9XQ/s400/Before+and+After.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
The stained chair is on the left. I love the way the stain upped the texture and gave the chair a victorian look.<br />
<br />
Here are some close-ups.<br />
<br />
Before:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LOB4ZwWKmGQ/TaoZVjkq9WI/AAAAAAAAAkI/XORQrQtGFCY/s1600/Wicker+Chairs+%25284-16-11%2529+005.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" r6="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LOB4ZwWKmGQ/TaoZVjkq9WI/AAAAAAAAAkI/XORQrQtGFCY/s400/Wicker+Chairs+%25284-16-11%2529+005.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">And After:</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-owrOF02wx1E/TaoZdm85qDI/AAAAAAAAAkM/qLMcNqG58_4/s1600/Wicker+Chairs+%25284-16-11%2529+007.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" r6="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-owrOF02wx1E/TaoZdm85qDI/AAAAAAAAAkM/qLMcNqG58_4/s400/Wicker+Chairs+%25284-16-11%2529+007.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
The stain gives a nice depth and victorian look; perfect for a porch. What do you think?<br />
<br />
I'll post some pix when they're both done and back on my porch.<br />

We all had a good time and lots of catching up was done by friends who are scattered all over the country in college. <br />
<br />
This is the bathroom that was shared by all 17 of them:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oF45FnQB7RA/TZYKXjF3y7I/AAAAAAAAAiI/yy2s-eoLtic/s1600/Spring+Break+079.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" r6="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oF45FnQB7RA/TZYKXjF3y7I/AAAAAAAAAiI/yy2s-eoLtic/s400/Spring+Break+079.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">We only have one 40 gallon hot water heater. They were great working through timing their showers.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">They helped remove 600 square feet of sod and spread 6 yards of mulch across the back fence so I can plant a garden:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

<br />
No check, but I found a wonderful table in just the right size for my breakfast room with a really good price tag. Not only that, but it included four Windsor chairs that I just love. <br />
<br />
After checking it out thoroughly and exchanging several texts with my husband, I bought the table!<br />
<br />
I pick it up tomorrow and cannot wait. I hope I can sleep tonight I'm that excited.<br />
<br />
The set is maple. The table is 58 inches round with drop leaves and includes table protector pads and two nine or ten inch leaves that store inside the table. The absolute best part is that this table is almost exactly like the one I grew up with.<br />
<br />
I'll post pictures as soon as I can but for now I'll leave you with these pictures of Windsor chairs posted by Elizabeth of <a href="http://blueclearskies.blogspot.com/2011/03/inspiration-journey-linky-party.html">Blue Clear Sky</a> and Holly of <a href="http://www.hollymathisinteriors.com/2011/03/pretty-dining-room-before-after/">Holly Mathis Interiors</a>.<br />

We're having a great time and they're all getting a much-needed rest . . . well except for the yard work I hooked them all into doing. </div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-ciJdY2slOC0/TX7xZQ_7irI/AAAAAAAAAhs/ERBge1FOzow/s1600/Spring+Break+028.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="265" q6="true" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-ciJdY2slOC0/TX7xZQ_7irI/AAAAAAAAAhs/ERBge1FOzow/s400/Spring+Break+028.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">Removing 600 square feet of sod</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-ASZYtcQvuOY/TX7veveLzbI/AAAAAAAAAhk/7Sqm5FM1L2s/s1600/Spring+Break+025.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" q6="true" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-ASZYtcQvuOY/TX7veveLzbI/AAAAAAAAAhk/7Sqm5FM1L2s/s400/Spring+Break+025.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">And moving lots of stone from our driveway to the back yard.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">And that's not even all the stone. They were great.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-OBdecn2Sy2A/TX7yfKBAzjI/AAAAAAAAAh4/ldxDzDPV5_8/s1600/Spring+Break+035.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" q6="true" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-OBdecn2Sy2A/TX7yfKBAzjI/AAAAAAAAAh4/ldxDzDPV5_8/s400/Spring+Break+035.jpg" width="350" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Then they got to play. But the water was really cold in the unheated pool.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

I have big plans for Spring Break next week. First of all, my four kids are coming home for the whole week! That is so cool!<br />
<br />
Along with them will be many of their friends. Friday night is when it starts and we'll have 6 young people ranging in age from 17 to 28; two girls and four guys. By Tuesday, one will have left and two will have joined us. <br />
<br />
Then to crown it off, on Friday we're having a Par-tay! I think we'll at least double the number of young people here.<br />
<br />
I am so excited!<br />
<br />
But to be practical, I've been planning how to sleep that many people. We have three guest rooms with sleeping room on beds for 5 people. We'll also have 5 floor pads, a queen size inflatable mattress, some sleeping bags, lots of sheets and blankets and lots of floor space. Sleeping taken care of.<br />
<br />
We have one 40 gallon hot water heater and lots of teens and young 20s here who'll want/need to shower daily. I plan to have a shower schedule they have to use. Showering taken care of.<br />
<br />
Next to consider is feeding the crowd. I have a menu planned that includes easy and inexpensive food that kids that age like to eat. <br />
<br />
Here is the dinner menu:<br />
<br />
Friday - French Bread Pizza for late night snack after all arrive between 10 pm and 12 am<br />
Saturday - Tacos (I cooked the meat today) with shredded lettuce, chopped tomatos and shredded cheese<br />
Sunday - Pork Loin on the rotisserie, canned baked beans, green beans and rolls<br />
Monday - Sweet & Spicy Pork Tacos with Cilantro Lime Slaw - recipe found <a href="http://www.makeit-loveit.com/2009/03/youll-fall-in-love.html">here</a><br />
Tuesday - Spaghetti, salad, french bread<br />
Wednesday - Bean Burritos, fruit salad<br />
Thursday - Mac 'n Cheese, apple slices<br />
Friday - Party! Nachos and Tacos with Cilantro Lime Rice and popcorn for munching<br />
<br />
My boys leave on Saturday so I'll just have three left to feed and I figure we can eat leftovers.<br />
<br />
I plan to make lots of cookies and bars for munching and desserts. My daughter is a cake decorator so will make a cake for the party on Friday. <br />
<br />
I'm planning on making lots of quick breads to have on hand for breakfasts. I'll definitely make my Grandma's Banana Bread as it's always a favorite with everyone. I think I'll make pumpkin bread and apple cinnamon bread too. Then there'll be eggs including boiled eggs for the non-cooking ones.<br />
<br />
I'm hoping there'll be dinner leftovers for lunches and I'll expect the kids to serve themselves.<br />
<br />
OK, that sounds like the food is taken care of.<br />
<br />
Then to keep them entertained - as if they really need me to do that - I have a project planned for the yard. Since we just moved into a new house we need to add plants to the backyard. My husband recently planted two apple trees and two peach trees across the back fence. I plan to remove the grass from the back fence to about 10 feet out and put down three inches of mulch. That way we can also plant shrubs and perennials there and limit the amount of mowing needed.<br />
<br />
Removing grass is a big job, as is picking up and spreading mulch. My youngest son and daughter have agreed to help with the job. Two of their friends will also help. I like to say that hard work is a good use for a young person. <br />
<br />
I plan to post some 'before' pix in the next couple of days and then some 'during' and 'after' pictures when we're done. <br />
<br />
Because of the crowd and the back yard project, I may not post as much in the next week but I'll be back.<br />
<br />
What are planning for Spring Break?<br />

I like to check the statistics of my blog on a daily basis to see many different things such as how many pageviews I've had today, this week, this month, who is referring to my site and which are my most visited posts among other things. <br />
<br />
One of the stats I can see is in which countries in the world my visitors live. Just recently, I've had visitors from the US, Canada, Australia and the UK which I would expect because we are all english speaking countries. But I've also had visitors from the Czech Republic, Italy, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, Germany, Spain, India and Hong Kong! <br />
<br />
I would like to say a special thank you to all of you who visit me on a regular basis from any other country than the US! Welcome to my blog and please enjoy yourself while you're here. I hope I can give you a little peek into how an American lives. <br />
<br />
If you are visiting from another country, please consider leaving a comment even if it's in your own language. I would love to hear from you!<br />

We moved in December 30 and I have just about everything in place. Sorry, this is a picture heavy post. </div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">So, without further ado, my home:</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-AySYdCTtaQo/TXWwNR_DABI/AAAAAAAAAhE/57WSPQxjuog/s1600/DSC_3998.NEF_filtered.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="387" q6="true" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-AySYdCTtaQo/TXWwNR_DABI/AAAAAAAAAhE/57WSPQxjuog/s640/DSC_3998.NEF_filtered.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Standing in the entry looking past the dining room alcove, toward the family room at the back of the house.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">When you look to the right from here, this is what you see:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-zYzncQHLzXs/TXUwEkEecGI/AAAAAAAAAfo/YPMgpt-DkQA/s1600/March+008.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" q6="true" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-zYzncQHLzXs/TXUwEkEecGI/AAAAAAAAAfo/YPMgpt-DkQA/s400/March+008.jpg" width="238" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Hallway to the three secondary bedrooms. There are two rooms in the front of the house to the right, the 'front bedroom' and the 'craft room', the bathroom is straight ahead and another room is to the left and is called the 'back bedroom'.</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-S4dqTSeYiCg/TXUwVU5y3hI/AAAAAAAAAgA/Jp-0lCCpabM/s1600/March+025.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="386" q6="true" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-S4dqTSeYiCg/TXUwVU5y3hI/AAAAAAAAAgA/Jp-0lCCpabM/s400/March+025.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />

</div><div align="center" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The wall opposite the bed.</div><div align="center" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div align="center">Now brace yourself because I'm going to show you my craft room. I don't ever do my crafts in my craft room because I prefer to do crafts in the kitchen or family room. It's really my craft storage room.</div><div align="center"><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: center;">I'm cringing.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I plan to make it look pretty but need some $$ to invest in better storage. It is really convenient and I'm in there getting something or putting something away all the time.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I just needed to keep it real.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

<br />
The reason for getting sidetracked is because the house across the street that is under construction had two big piles of limestone blocks just waiting for us to cart them across the street so we can use them in our backyard. <br />
<br />
And, yes, I did get permission from the builder. They were just going to throw them in the landfill! I'm being a good steward of the earth and all that. I'm also a big scrounge and will take any landscape supplies I can get for free. My kids and I laid a beautiful, cottage brick patio all from free brick at our last house. <br />

</tbody></table>And I made a patio and walkways from free chunks of concrete at our house before that. Why pay for it if you can get it free! <br />
<br />
Today we got about half of the rock moved between making a twin bed frame this morning (pix at a later date) and my husband's concert this evening. He plays violin in a symphony orchestra.<br />
<br />
We'll get the rest tomorrow. Whatever we leave after that gets hauled off on Monday so I plan to get it all. We're thinking of using it for stepping stones and edging flower beds.<br />
<br />
When that is all done and I take some pix of the inside of the house, I'll start getting them up.<br />
<br />
In the meantime, thanks for the patience and have a good Sunday!<br />

I've been afraid to show parts of my house because it doesn't look like what I see on other blogs. I have it mostly done and put together since our move two months ago and I really like it. But I was afraid to show it for fear that others might not like it. <br />
<br />
So tonight, I decided that I just need to show it and not worry what other people think. I need to be me.<br />
<br />
I have lots of furniture out and pictures on the walls because this is a down-sizing house. We kept what we could and decided that hanging pictures on the walls is the best way to store them. Besides, we really like our pictures; they all have sentimental value to us. <br />
<br />
So starting tomorrow, I'm going to start featuring parts of my house that didn't show up in previous photos. I'm also going to show the changes I've made on the parts I've already shown. <br />
<br />
Stay tuned . . .<br />

I had them in my last two houses and plan to paint those in my current house . . . someday. <br />
<br />
I keep a file of kitchens that I love so I'm including some pictures with white cabinets that show how pretty they can be. Note that these kitchens all have different styles ranging from country to elegant but they all have white cabinets.<br />

Gingham ceiling and copper pots! Beautiful!<br />
<br />
This isn't a pot rack but is similar to the one above:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-MW3-Ha9o1f4/TWP853J3v3I/AAAAAAAAAeI/naATXznEqS8/s1600/vent-hood-l%255B1%255D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" j6="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-MW3-Ha9o1f4/TWP853J3v3I/AAAAAAAAAeI/naATXznEqS8/s320/vent-hood-l%255B1%255D.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Great look and can be done relatively inexpensively.<br />
<br />
Do you have a pot rack? If so, please add a comment with a link to your pictures.<br />
<br />
I'll be off-line for the next few days as I'll be visiting with my daughter and neice in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. <br />
<br />
Thanks for visiting!<br />

I've unpacked it all but still have some projects I want to do in here.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CL7cC-8qjcw/TWHodiuzWaI/AAAAAAAAAcw/oPOX9FX0eiI/s1600/February+Projects+016.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" j6="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CL7cC-8qjcw/TWHodiuzWaI/AAAAAAAAAcw/oPOX9FX0eiI/s400/February+Projects+016.jpg" width="280" /></a></div><br />
The table and chairs were purchased second hand about 20 years ago. I think they're from the 1920s and they're still in great shape. The three-tier pie crust table in the corner was made by my Dad when he was in high school as a wedding gift for his sister. It holds many of my favorite knick knacks.<br />
<br />
The china cabinet is a recent purchase that I need to hold my five sets of china and various other plates and china and crystal pieces.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-v_oECUMnBQM/TWHolHOTuUI/AAAAAAAAAc0/qIVveV6f_Ts/s1600/February+Projects+018.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" j6="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-v_oECUMnBQM/TWHolHOTuUI/AAAAAAAAAc0/qIVveV6f_Ts/s640/February+Projects+018.jpg" width="457" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>I recently added the items to the top of the china cabinet to give it more presence in the room. The cabinet is a short one because our last house had a drop ceiling in the dining room. This house has nine foot ceilings.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-t2pYXOsGn3w/TWHouC9OJtI/AAAAAAAAAc4/N-LkIr3rNY0/s1600/February+Projects+019.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="270" j6="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-t2pYXOsGn3w/TWHouC9OJtI/AAAAAAAAAc4/N-LkIr3rNY0/s400/February+Projects+019.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The rug is one my step-son got for us in Afghanistan when he was stationed there a few years ago.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-YNgMoNpSQQY/TWHpgO6RUuI/AAAAAAAAAc8/iqmLIXXKJ1Y/s1600/February+Projects+020.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="256" j6="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-YNgMoNpSQQY/TWHpgO6RUuI/AAAAAAAAAc8/iqmLIXXKJ1Y/s320/February+Projects+020.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
The runner on the table is a piece of silk fabric left over from curtain panels I made for our living and dining rooms in our last house. They will soon be hanging in our music room.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-EGdffgKJUGM/TWHsCguE0BI/AAAAAAAAAdM/HGVIuVlGfPk/s1600/7308493-2%255B1%255D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="256" j6="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-EGdffgKJUGM/TWHsCguE0BI/AAAAAAAAAdM/HGVIuVlGfPk/s320/7308493-2%255B1%255D.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>Living room in my last house. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4qg_rGmVJSY/TWHsFhQrNKI/AAAAAAAAAdQ/E0z8g7r-5Ns/s1600/7308493-3%255B1%255D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="256" j6="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4qg_rGmVJSY/TWHsFhQrNKI/AAAAAAAAAdQ/E0z8g7r-5Ns/s320/7308493-3%255B1%255D.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div>Dining room in my last house. See the low ceiling over the china cabinet. <br />
<br />
That house was much bigger than the one we're in now; also more expensive to heat and cool, harder to clean, more expensive to insure, more maintenance, etc.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-x2yuLm6kqnM/TWHqKB03NSI/AAAAAAAAAdI/L9unBkoOMWo/s1600/February+Projects+0241.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" j6="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-x2yuLm6kqnM/TWHqKB03NSI/AAAAAAAAAdI/L9unBkoOMWo/s320/February+Projects+0241.jpg" width="307" /></a></div><br />
I'd like to paint the walls something other than white. We used Sherwin Williams Jersey Cream in our last house and might use the same again.<br />
<br />
Now for the side of the room that I didn't show previously.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-04BoEM7n148/TWHp41Rg7vI/AAAAAAAAAdA/LO7ey6kbrm0/s1600/February+Projects+024.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" j6="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-04BoEM7n148/TWHp41Rg7vI/AAAAAAAAAdA/LO7ey6kbrm0/s320/February+Projects+024.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
That dresser on the left is one of my next projects. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-v8Ifv9mSetQ/TWHxm_jk7fI/AAAAAAAAAdU/4Cr_KF2yIhs/s1600/February+Projects.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" j6="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-v8Ifv9mSetQ/TWHxm_jk7fI/AAAAAAAAAdU/4Cr_KF2yIhs/s320/February+Projects.jpg" width="272" /></a></div><br />
My daughter gave it to me. I plan to paint it with Sherwin Williams Upward - a grey blue.<br />
<br />
I'll post more on this room as I make more changes but for now, I like it.<br />
Thanks for visiting.<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PU-RPpB1hIE/TWB9ZBKYGmI/AAAAAAAAAcY/I-i0qYu0CzA/s1600/February+Projects+032.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" j6="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PU-RPpB1hIE/TWB9ZBKYGmI/AAAAAAAAAcY/I-i0qYu0CzA/s400/February+Projects+032.jpg" width="398" /></a></div><br />
I used two Reader's Digest Condensed books with pages that had turned brown over time. The two rows of pages in the back are from a book with pages that are a little darker than the row of pages in the front. I curled the pages two different ways.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LNeSpq9x5ok/TWB9m6JUOvI/AAAAAAAAAcg/RKwj0H6vMb4/s1600/February+Projects+026.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" j6="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LNeSpq9x5ok/TWB9m6JUOvI/AAAAAAAAAcg/RKwj0H6vMb4/s400/February+Projects+026.jpg" width="373" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Then I used the Ex Libris from the first page and cut it into a circle. I used extra pages folded in a fan and glued together behind the Ex Libris with another circle cut from a book page.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RXBbOfSoSyU/TWB9cpo9_FI/AAAAAAAAAcc/vNtzFK53r7Q/s1600/February+Projects+025.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="380" j6="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RXBbOfSoSyU/TWB9cpo9_FI/AAAAAAAAAcc/vNtzFK53r7Q/s400/February+Projects+025.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">We have this hanging in the Music Room of our house for my husband. It's called the music room because it houses a piano that no one plays, four violins and a cello. My husband is the string player. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-x5VubG-2oX8/TV9GDRgegpI/AAAAAAAAAb4/Re-d21CZf5c/s1600/bedroom40-de%255B1%255D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" j6="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-x5VubG-2oX8/TV9GDRgegpI/AAAAAAAAAb4/Re-d21CZf5c/s320/bedroom40-de%255B1%255D.jpg" width="250" /></a></div><br />
My goal was to decide whether the room felt feminine to me. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-6kBgkwIFHrY/TV9GETC8RGI/AAAAAAAAAb8/AxVMHA7LPvM/s1600/Bedroom287%255B1%255D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" j6="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-6kBgkwIFHrY/TV9GETC8RGI/AAAAAAAAAb8/AxVMHA7LPvM/s320/Bedroom287%255B1%255D.jpg" width="243" /></a></div><br />
If so, then I studied the room for what in the room said 'feminine' to me.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-C39T-9xrgkY/TV9F_dofEDI/AAAAAAAAAbs/wB4UanimUbQ/s1600/314c781a-47bd-46dd-bf20-d06e14b3c392_493x693%255B1%255D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" j6="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-C39T-9xrgkY/TV9F_dofEDI/AAAAAAAAAbs/wB4UanimUbQ/s320/314c781a-47bd-46dd-bf20-d06e14b3c392_493x693%255B1%255D.jpg" width="227" /></a></div><br />
These images are of rooms that I really like and that feel feminine to me, but not too much . . . because I share the room with my husband.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-cmcRh_WXwDQ/TV9GFixMLcI/AAAAAAAAAcA/Ac4dtjqVJ-w/s1600/Heather+Chadduck+Bedroom%255B1%255D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" j6="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-cmcRh_WXwDQ/TV9GFixMLcI/AAAAAAAAAcA/Ac4dtjqVJ-w/s1600/Heather+Chadduck+Bedroom%255B1%255D.jpg" /></a></div><br />
The interesting thing with all of these rooms is that there aren't a lot of floral prints or ruffles.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-N4y_n1eeOQc/TV9GB03RjzI/AAAAAAAAAb0/yf0mHnJteHk/s1600/3770210925_a450541386_b1_thumb3%255B1%255D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" j6="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-N4y_n1eeOQc/TV9GB03RjzI/AAAAAAAAAb0/yf0mHnJteHk/s320/3770210925_a450541386_b1_thumb3%255B1%255D.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">But they all have one thing in common.</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-W4DvdMUo8lU/TV9GAr4ls9I/AAAAAAAAAbw/JhL-NmwQqC0/s1600/1147929-white-bed-xl%255B1%255D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" j6="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-W4DvdMUo8lU/TV9GAr4ls9I/AAAAAAAAAbw/JhL-NmwQqC0/s320/1147929-white-bed-xl%255B1%255D.jpg" width="304" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Can you tell what it is?</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-azOQevTz7Lg/TV9GHksxLBI/AAAAAAAAAcE/SBHUO9i-xcs/s1600/img_story_ss10%255B1%255D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="249" j6="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-azOQevTz7Lg/TV9GHksxLBI/AAAAAAAAAcE/SBHUO9i-xcs/s320/img_story_ss10%255B1%255D.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
If you guessed a white quilt/comforter/coverlet, you're right.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-r_UAqKuuZtg/TV9GMksPTOI/AAAAAAAAAcM/5Fui5ynHqU8/s1600/masterbed6_lg%255B1%255D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" j6="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-r_UAqKuuZtg/TV9GMksPTOI/AAAAAAAAAcM/5Fui5ynHqU8/s320/masterbed6_lg%255B1%255D.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>I prefer a white, cotton quilt. That's what we have on our bed now and it makes me happy.<br />
<br />
What says 'feminine' to you in your room?<br />

He wired three undercounter lights to an outlet we had our builder install over the microwave. This outlet is on a switch on the backsplash, next to the range. All I have to do is flip one switch to get light on all the counters! My husband is my hero!<br />
<br />
This is my kitchen with the three undercounter lights turned on.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pUwDTCw4Ejg/TVhVQDuegOI/AAAAAAAAAZw/3Ryr0vKonFM/s1600/Kitchen+and+Laundry+Room+00502+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" h5="true" height="300" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pUwDTCw4Ejg/TVhVQDuegOI/AAAAAAAAAZw/3Ryr0vKonFM/s400/Kitchen+and+Laundry+Room+00502+copy.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
Do you see the switch just to the right of the range? No? I don't either. It blends into the subway tile in this picture. Here, I'll point it out . . .<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Rm_meDGJtog/TVhWNu22izI/AAAAAAAAAZ4/TmGlN114OAo/s1600/Kitchen+and+Laundry+Room+00503+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" h5="true" height="300" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Rm_meDGJtog/TVhWNu22izI/AAAAAAAAAZ4/TmGlN114OAo/s400/Kitchen+and+Laundry+Room+00503+copy.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
There it is. Oh, this is so wonderful for a woman who likes lots of light in her kitchen. One flip of the switch and I have it!<br />
<br />
On another note, I did a quick project in my laundry room that really added a fun pop of color. I hung some 70s framed tiles that my parents used to have hanging in their vacation home. My Dad just recently sent them to me.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GOdfp9jj8CA/TVhW6alPZbI/AAAAAAAAAaA/_70voW3ILXQ/s1600/Kitchen+and+Laundry+Room+002.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" h5="true" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GOdfp9jj8CA/TVhW6alPZbI/AAAAAAAAAaA/_70voW3ILXQ/s320/Kitchen+and+Laundry+Room+002.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br />
The laundry room is just off the kitchen and doesn't look very pretty but I keep the door open during the day because I like the light from the window. With these framed tiles I can keep the colorful theme from my breakfast room on the other side of the kitchen. I blogged about my breakfast room <a href="http://somereallyneatstuff.blogspot.com/2011/02/breakfast-room-part-i.html">here</a>.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EoAIQMH_iiw/TVhYW6S2a6I/AAAAAAAAAaI/p_uptiChrsc/s1600/Feb+2011+024+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" h5="true" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EoAIQMH_iiw/TVhYW6S2a6I/AAAAAAAAAaI/p_uptiChrsc/s400/Feb+2011+024+copy.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><br />
Now the laundry room looks pretty and adds to the colorful theme in the kitchen.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Ifa3Ic_ySwo/TVhWyOVRUpI/AAAAAAAAAZ8/C6t7_1ecd-8/s1600/Kitchen+and+Laundry+Room+0011.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" h5="true" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Ifa3Ic_ySwo/TVhWyOVRUpI/AAAAAAAAAZ8/C6t7_1ecd-8/s400/Kitchen+and+Laundry+Room+0011.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br />
So what do you think about my 70s, framed tiles?<br />
<br />

<br />
When I was growing up, my father always gave my Mom and my two sisters and I gifts for Valentine's Day. That always meant so much to me. When I was raising my kids, I continued that tradition. My third child, Jimmy, was even born on Valentine's Day which was a real gift from God to me. <br />
<br />
Every year, we always set the table with all the pretty pink, red and white tablecloths and red and white crocheted doilies I own. We used pretty dishes and had a special meal for Valentine's Day/Jimmy's Birthday.<br />
<br />
Jim has grown up to be a fine young man who'll be 21 on Monday. I'm very proud of him.<br />
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">18th birthday, 2008</td></tr>
</tbody></table><br />
I haven't been with him on his birthday since 2008 but I still send Valentine goodies to him and his brothers. <br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-WRAUl51JIwU/TVYwnutazcI/AAAAAAAAAZk/mSy18NuHrCg/s1600/2010+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" h5="true" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-WRAUl51JIwU/TVYwnutazcI/AAAAAAAAAZk/mSy18NuHrCg/s320/2010+1.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">These are my boys this last December. That's Jim on the left.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>This year my oldest son requested brownies so I sent him a whole panfull. Jim and my youngest son both requested chocolate chip cookies so I made Blonde Brownies and added a whole 12 oz. bag of chocolate chips and they each got a whole panfull of those. Additionally, Jim asked for sugar cookies so I made them into sandwiches with the frosting in between so they would pack easier. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YDzphnqvGG0/TVYrJxm5F6I/AAAAAAAAAZQ/lgrxSPX2Ils/s1600/Valentine%2527s+Cookies+009.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" h5="true" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YDzphnqvGG0/TVYrJxm5F6I/AAAAAAAAAZQ/lgrxSPX2Ils/s320/Valentine%2527s+Cookies+009.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
I really didn't do Christmas this year (you can read about it <a href="http://somereallyneatstuff.blogspot.com/2010/12/im-not-decorating-for-christmas-this.html">here</a> and <a href="http://somereallyneatstuff.blogspot.com/2011/01/new-house-update.html">here</a>) so I had such a good time baking for Valentine's Day. <br />
<br />
Since this is the first Valentine's Day I'll be away from my daughter, I got to send her some goodies too. She requested fudge. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--9BplnktknE/TVYsoa0uLKI/AAAAAAAAAZY/RiganFYOhKc/s1600/Valentine%2527s+Cookies+0161.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" h5="true" height="270" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--9BplnktknE/TVYsoa0uLKI/AAAAAAAAAZY/RiganFYOhKc/s320/Valentine%2527s+Cookies+0161.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
I packed it in a little foil baking pan and added some scrapbook paper, stickers and a happy greeting before mailing it.<br />
<br />
I made an extra batch of Blonde Brownies and had sugar cookies and fudge left over so I prepared several plates of these goodies and took them to our neighborhood fire station, the sales office for our builder and church for the staff. It was so much fun to brighten the day for other people and spread around the happiness I feel with this holiday.<br />
<br />
If I could, I'd give Valentine's goodies to everyone who reads this blog. Instead I'll just wish you loads of pink and red joy and a happy Valentine's Day!<br />

First, here is a before picture soon after we moved in:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_IsyVlLIIg3g/TVA6jSdaSXI/AAAAAAAAAYg/YgLnPRUNkYE/s1600/New+House+2010-11+028+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" h5="true" height="287" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_IsyVlLIIg3g/TVA6jSdaSXI/AAAAAAAAAYg/YgLnPRUNkYE/s400/New+House+2010-11+028+copy.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
There are five windows in this room. That alone was a big selling point with me because I love lots of light but it meant making five curtains. You can see the fabric on the sofa that I ordered for making the curtains for the windows. <br />
<br />
There were lots of problems with this room besides the lack of curtains. Probably the biggest problem was the table. We had our formal, mahogany dining room table with our more casual black Windsor chairs. It gave us more room at the table but looked all wrong. We moved our smaller, round black table into the room and it looks so much better.<br />
<br />
I also didn't like the floor situation. We have brown tile with brown grout. That was a common sense choice since we have two dogs who both have a knack for finding any mud in the backyard and tracking it inside. Our first choice for flooring would be wood, but that was out of the question at this time due to financial constraints. I like the brown tile but not in this room. I really wanted a rug like this:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_IsyVlLIIg3g/TVA6OhDP8vI/AAAAAAAAAYY/ddXSFvmQs-E/s1600/l71815330.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" h5="true" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_IsyVlLIIg3g/TVA6OhDP8vI/AAAAAAAAAYY/ddXSFvmQs-E/s320/l71815330.jpg" width="214" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Which is available <a href="http://www.homedecorators.com/P/Fez_II_Area_Rug/330/">here</a> for only $600 plus $150 shipping. That's too much for me.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I also like this rug from Target:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_IsyVlLIIg3g/TVA6vtZb-II/AAAAAAAAAYo/JMHD8b18Cx0/s1600/Target+Bailey.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" h5="true" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_IsyVlLIIg3g/TVA6vtZb-II/AAAAAAAAAYo/JMHD8b18Cx0/s320/Target+Bailey.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Available <a href="http://www.target.com/Bailey-Rug-Collection-Midnight/dp/B000GD5876/ref=br_1_30?ie=UTF8&id=Bailey%20Rug%20Collection%20Midnight&node=11055031&searchSize=30&searchView=list&searchPage=1&sr=1-30&qid=1297102960&rh=&searchBinNameList=target_com_category-bin%2Ctarget_com_size-bin%2Cprice%2Ctarget_com_primary_color-bin%2Cpattern_name-bin%2Citem_shape%2Cmaterial_type%2Ctarget_com_brand-bin&searchRank=salesrank&frombrowse=1">here</a> for only $550 with free shipping. Again, that was too much.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Then I remembered that we already have a rug with a blue background and is the right size. I didn't have a place for it and was thinking of getting rid of it. It's not exactly what I want but it does the job and I already own it so it's free. And an added bonus by putting the rug in the room was that the file cabinet drawer stays closed. Another problem solved.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I added some pictures to the room. You can read about some of them <a href="http://somereallyneatstuff.blogspot.com/2011/01/pix-for-breakfast-room.html">here</a>. I also hung the silhouettes of the kids I had made at Disneyland 12 years ago and again at Christmas just two months ago. I've also made four of the five drapes so we have more privacy and light control.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_IsyVlLIIg3g/TVA5LaZrs8I/AAAAAAAAAYE/tffUtEKiplM/s1600/Feb+2011+022pl.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" h5="true" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_IsyVlLIIg3g/TVA5LaZrs8I/AAAAAAAAAYE/tffUtEKiplM/s400/Feb+2011+022pl.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">My husband started to install the chandelier but ran into a problem with some wiring that our builder needs to fix. The chandelier is up without it's glass shades and it doesn't work yet, but I'm going to show the room anyway.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">So now for the big reveal:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_IsyVlLIIg3g/TVBCmqs76EI/AAAAAAAAAYs/BZMO4pZgKB8/s1600/Feb+2011+283.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" h5="true" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_IsyVlLIIg3g/TVBCmqs76EI/AAAAAAAAAYs/BZMO4pZgKB8/s400/Feb+2011+283.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_IsyVlLIIg3g/TVA6Ml3aeUI/AAAAAAAAAYU/Xf7AZkx1hsY/s1600/Feb+2011+0271.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" h5="true" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_IsyVlLIIg3g/TVA6Ml3aeUI/AAAAAAAAAYU/Xf7AZkx1hsY/s400/Feb+2011+0271.jpg" width="196" /></a></div><br />
Do you like our sofa? It's from my mother-in-law. I hated it when we first got it, but it's kind of grown on me and I love it with the drapes.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_IsyVlLIIg3g/TVA6Jb1jVeI/AAAAAAAAAYQ/7kRfX1SAHEU/s1600/Feb+2011+031.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" h5="true" height="345" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_IsyVlLIIg3g/TVA6Jb1jVeI/AAAAAAAAAYQ/7kRfX1SAHEU/s400/Feb+2011+031.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
It may not stay there forever but for now I like having a place to sit in the sun in the morning.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_IsyVlLIIg3g/TVA6FLo_SWI/AAAAAAAAAYM/jPdqAIiNKEw/s1600/Feb+2011+030.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" h5="true" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_IsyVlLIIg3g/TVA6FLo_SWI/AAAAAAAAAYM/jPdqAIiNKEw/s400/Feb+2011+030.jpg" width="337" /></a></div><br />
You can also see the rug in this photo. It's a little too busy with the drapes, but it looks so much better than the bare tile floor. It really defines the room and gives it a warm feel. I can live with it for now.<br />
<br />
So, again here it is before:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_IsyVlLIIg3g/TVBEdFG_ghI/AAAAAAAAAYw/wKisKRADpQU/s1600/New+House+2010-11+0281+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" h5="true" height="287" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_IsyVlLIIg3g/TVBEdFG_ghI/AAAAAAAAAYw/wKisKRADpQU/s400/New+House+2010-11+0281+copy.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
And after:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_IsyVlLIIg3g/TVBGnWogu6I/AAAAAAAAAY0/ZkFi4Aqj_Ng/s1600/Feb+2011.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" h5="true" height="276" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_IsyVlLIIg3g/TVBGnWogu6I/AAAAAAAAAY0/ZkFi4Aqj_Ng/s400/Feb+2011.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
